The German National Tourist Office hosted trade and media in the Merrion Hotel and Jacinta Mc Glynn (Senior Reporter Travelbiz.ie) was there.

Germany calling! Jeanette Schuchmann (Vice President GNTB) called upon us to consider Germany for our holidays, leisure breaks and long weekends at a dinner gathering in Merrion Hotel. Jacinta Mc Glynn (Senior Reporter Travelbiz) attended the event to hear that Germany offers excellent value for money and is an increasingly popular holiday choice. Charles Wilson (Sales Manager GNTB) gleefully told us that Germany even has football in the Bundesliga! As a destination, Germany offers magical cities like Heidelberg, Stuttgart and Berlin; the majesty of sparkling rivers; nature trails; fairy-tale castles, great wine and a vibrant arts scene with eclectic music and performers.

Cycling is a growing phenomenon too. Men in lycra need not apply! The German love of statistics shone through when we were apprised of factual information on the country’s popularity. Over half a million Irish visitors overnight in Germany and the future is optimistic. For 2020, Bahaus will celebrate its 100th anniversary; Beethoven’s 250th anniversary takes place in his home town of Bonn and world renowned Passion Play, Oberammergau, will feature. A myriad reasons to visit the country. Germany calling. Germany calling.
