Cobalt Air and the Cyprus Tourism Organisation joined forces to host a press trip to Cyprus. Declan Mescall (Features Editor) was on hand to represent team Travelbiz. Cobalt Air operates twice weekly year-round direct flights from Dublin to Larnaca. Ten years ago about 70,000 Irish holidaymakers visited Cyprus annually but the recession caused the secession of direct flights and numbers dropped to about 2,000. Since Cobalt Air began their service two years ago the volume of Irish visitors has increased to about 6,000 and this year is promising to show further substantial growth, especially now that a number of Irish tour operators have committed to allocations. With a wonderful climate, fantastic beaches, rich ancient history, a choice of resorts, picturesque traditional villages and unforgettable local experiences, Cyprus seems to have it all.
