Christening of MSC Meraviglia (8th wonder of the world) and the Irish trade were there!
7th June 2017 - 10:35am
Don Shearer (CEO Travelbiz) was in le Harve at the weekend for the christening of the MSC Meraviglia with key travel trade partners from Ireland. This glamorous, high-profile event, took place in the port of Le Havre with entertainment from top international performers, an official ceremony and an exclusive gala dinner in the company of special guests, authorities, key partners from the travel industry, global media, top management from MSC Cruises and its parent company MSC Group. The Meraviglia is most certainly a game changer not only within the MSC existing fleet but in the cruise sector bringing luxury, cuisine and entertainment to a new level.
The launch of the Meraviglia sees the start of a new vessel launch program that will see the privately owned MSC Cruises invest €9B over the next ten years growing their current employee base from 17,000 to 36,000 and the delivery of the MSC Cruises’ World Class cruise ships. The ground breaking World Class ships will feature 2,760 cabins and a maximum occupancy of 6,850 guests, the highest passenger capacity in the global cruise fleet. The vessels, which will be delivered in 2022 and 2024 – the options are for 2025 and 2026 – will have a length of 330 metres and 47 metres of beam.
